UPCOMING EVENTS FOR SEPTEMBER & OCTOBER 2012

Dear Parents of Band members,

As you know the new year has kicked off and we are going to hit the ground running.  Our first parade of the year is usually at the end of September however, they changed the date on us again.  Sorry for the short notice but we really need to move quickly to be ready on time.  Updated versions the band calendar are sent out monthly throughout the year.   Below are a few upcoming events.

 

1. VERY IMPORTANT - Mandatory meeting for band parents and students. This is our only scheduled uniform fitting for the year.

     Where: Band Room

     When: Thursday, September 6, 2012. Those involved in the sports activity that day are requested to skip any after-game activities and head straight to Merced at the earliest possiblity (it's about a 30 minute drive from Livingston).

     Time: 6:30 PM

    Who: All marching band member(s) and at least one parent, guardian or adult representative must attend.

   Why: This meeting will cover information regarding parent responsibilities for competitions / performances, financial requirements and this is when and where your child will get fitted for their band uniform. All students need to be fitted in order to find out if we need to order more.

 2. Homecoming Parade - September 14, 2012

              3 pm line up 3:30 step off down Main street in Merced

3. Fresno Band Review - OCTOBER 3, 2012

             Students will be leaving early from school that day

             Mr. Humpal will be sending home permission slips this week.

            Permission slip forms need to be signed and returned ASAP so paperwork is complete prior to competition.

 
ALSO - there are 2 crazy early morning practices coming up1st - Tuesday, September 4th from 6:45 - 7:45 am

      - all marching band students must attend. (I.D., colorguard, drumline, drum major & band proper)

2nd - Monday, September 10th from 6:45 - 7:45 am

       - all marching band students must attend. (I.D., colorguard, drumline, drum major & band proper)

BJ has released the band schedule.  Please pay close attention to when your child has band practice, as it is his or her responsibility to bring all necessary equipment with them on that day.

This Wednesday is our next band booster meeting from 6:30-8 pm in the band room.  We have much to discuss and tons to do.  Please make every effort to attend.

Remember, all band related meetings and events count toward volunteer hours.

OLM Band Meeting

There will be a band meeting on Aug 29th at 6:30 pm.  We welcome all parents of band student and members to attend.  We discuss items such as upcoming events, fundraisers, and budget items.  Please come and share your input.
