Relay For Life Performance

Hello Band & Music Classes,

If you haven't heard,

Our Lady of Mercy is supporting the Relay for Life on April 27th.

The band will be performing on the main stage at 10 am in the stadium at Merced College.

If you know you're child will be able to make that performance, and has their performance piece learned by then, please e-mail with your child's T-shirt size to BJ.

All performers will be getting a Relay for Life T-shirt!!!

We also need to know if anyone needs a ride, and how many extra seats do you have in your car.

     God is Good,

BAND MEETING

Hello band,

This month's BAND meeting is a week earlier than usual.  That's this Wednesday, March 20th from 6:30 to 8 pm in the band room.

This is a very important meeting, we will be confirming spring schedule dates & times.

If you know you can't make the meeting,  please review the band schedule (below) and let me know which days & times are a conflict before Wednesday.  We might be able to work around your schedule on a few events.

We're small this year, we need as many as possible just to be allowed to compete.

We might not be very big, but we're sure going big.

With God's help and parental support, this will be an awesome spring season!

Trusting Jesus, BJ

Locals Only Performance

Hello Winter Colorguard & Percussion,

Well it's here!
The Merced Local's Only show is this Thursday, March 21st at 5:30 pm in the Golden Valley High School Gym.
I've attached the trip sheet and some other details they want us to know.
They are asking for $1 at the door (proceeds to go to 1 middle school and 1 HS in a random drawing).
There will be a snack booth this year so bring a little money.
This is an excellent opportunity for those less able to travel to come see our award winning performances!
I look forward to seeing you there.

God is Good, Bj

WINTER COMPETITION

Hello Drum Line & Color Guard,

It's winter competition time!!

Next Saturday, February 16th is the annual winter guard & winter percussion competition in Modesto from 7:30 am to around 7 pm.

Attached is the plan for the day as well as directions and maps.
If you could please respond to this e-mail with your confirmation of your child's participation, it would be greatly appreciated (we're hoping every one's had this date on their calendar for months now). Also, we'll be carpooling, if you've taken the safe environment training and are willing to help transport students, would you please respond with your number of available seats please? If your child needs a ride, please let us know that as well as soon as possible.
Our School seems to have a higher than average amount of Parental involvement with the students. This is not only beneficial for the academics, but also incredibly effective for our music program. The band teaching staff have been drilling instruction but essentially it's up to the students to review & practice what they've learned on their own at home. It's not too late to double check with your child their practice schedule. We don't consider the trophy as the most important lesson in music education however, it's a nice icing on the cake.

His banner over me is Love,

Bj

Band Meeting

Hello band,

I hope everyone had a nice vacation or two.  We're hitting the ground running here in the band program.

Special welcome to our three new colorguard members, Natalie, Cassandra, Alannah and their families.

Congratulations to the honor band recipients who will be representing Our Lady of Mercy & our faith in this public event.
     Mariel,
     Julien,
     Zach,
     Maralize
     Amanda
Their performance is this Saturday Jan 26th in the Buhach Colony HS theater at 5 pm.

This Wednesday, January 23rd from 6:30-8 pm in the band room will be our first band booster meeting of 2013!

We're asking for one adult representative from each student to attend.
You do not have to join the booster organization but we value your input and opinions.
We often make decisions at these booster meetings which affect the band calendar.
Your attendance and participation will help avoid possible time conflicts and inconvenience in general.

We will be discussing the various winter season performances/competitions as well as the upcoming bake sale.

Please show up with a prayerful attitude and a smile.
Remember, all band related meetings (including this one) count towards volunteer hours.

         God Bless this new year,

                        Bj
